Delta Medical participates in an international HIV/AIDS Treatment Access program, through its partnership with Gilead Sciences, Inc.
Ukraine is one of the countries hardest hit by the HIV epidemic in Eastern Europe, and there are still a significant number of people in Ukraine requiring treatment for the disease (see HIV/AIDS statistics in Ukraine).
Timely and efficient treatment of HIV may considerably prolong and improve the quality of life of an HIV-positive person. The basic approach to treatment of HIV-positive people comprises lifelong antiretroviral drug administration with three or more drugs, also known as ‘combination’ therapy. Gilead Sciences, Inc. (the USA) is one of the world leaders in the development and production of therapeutics for the treatment of HIV, including Viread® and Truvada®. To help ensure sustainable access to these medications for patients in developing countries, Gilead implemented its HIV Access Program. Through this program, these HIV medications are offered at substantially reduced prices.
As a company uniting socially responsible people, Delta Medical has partnered with Gilead Sciences and participates in Gilead’s HIV Access Program. Delta is Gilead’s exclusive partner representing Viread® and Truvada® in eleven countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Viread® and Truvada® are recommended as preferred first-line drugs, as part of combination therapy, in the treatment guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and local HIV treatment guidelines in many countries.
